Midnight Munchies

It's almost 11 pm. Now, tell me. How many of you feel the intense craving to munch?

Late night eating can pile on the pounds. Here are some helpful tips to keep the hunger at bay.

Increase protein and fibre.
They have great staying power so you don't feel hungry easily.

Have breakfast.
People who skip breakfast are more likely to snack impulsively on calorie-laden foods.

When you feel the urge to eat, drink 2 or more cups of water or make a cup of herbal tea with honey. Hot liquids have a soothing effect on emotions and appetite.

Hide the junk food!
Put away food that you usually reach for out of sight.

Remind yourself that the key to losing weight is to stop late night eating.

Do not skip meals or starve yourself.
It's almost impossible to control night cravings if you lack calories in the day.

Go to bed earlier.
An extra hour of sleep would be good for your body anyway.

If you have night cravings despite eating well, consider the possibility that you're emotionally hungry. Evaluate whether you're happy with your life. Are you stressed out? Psychological therapy might be what you need.
